University of South Carolina Coach, Dawn Staley Earns It On The Court and Off

It has been officially announced that South Carolina Women’s Basketball Coach, Dawn Staley, is now part of the selection committee for the US. Women’s Basketball team. She is a four-time SEC Coach of the Year, and the 2012 BCA Female Coach of the Year. She was also a four-time Olympic gold medalist, winning three as a player and one as head coach.

Sixty-four years later, the National Hockey League is honoring their “Jackie Robinson.” Mr. Willie O’Ree, the Boston Bruins number 22, broke the color barrier in the NHL back in 1958. He had to overcome many challenges after officially taking the ice. First: being Black, and second: being disabled; O’Ree, undenounced to his teammates was blind in one eye.

Even though Lewis College has been closed for the las 14 years due to loss of accreditation, the energy surrounding the school’s re-opening, is in reverence to the 82 years history of the HBCU and its roots within the Detroit community. The Pensole Lewis College of Business has been lauded by potential students for being mostly tuition frees.
